Empire State Building at sunset

What we do

One practice, two sides.

Resolving disputes that are already underway, and serving as the steady counsel that helps businesses make the right calls and avoid the next one.

01

Commercial Litigation

We represent companies and individuals in business disputes from demand through trial. We assess leverage early, map the realistic paths, and push toward the best resolution — whether that's a favorable settlement or a verdict.

02

Outside General Counsel

For businesses too small for in-house counsel, or supplementing a lean legal team, we act as your day-to-day legal partner — on call for contracts, vendor and customer issues, employment questions, and risk. Plans scale with you, from a few contract reviews a month to a full part-time legal department, so you only pay for the level of support you actually need.

03

Business Disputes

Breach of contract, partnership and shareholder disputes, and business torts. We bring courtroom-grade preparation to protect what you've built.

04

Contract Review & Negotiation

We review and negotiate the agreements that define your risk — giving the contract the same care as the trial brief, so problems are caught before they become disputes.

05

NYC Regulatory & Code Violations

A notice from a city agency doesn't have to become a costly problem. At Petrocelli Law, we help property owners, landlords, and businesses fight back against penalties and adverse determinations from New York City agencies. We handle matters including:

  • RPIE non-filing penalties from the Department of Finance (DOF);
  • Loss or denial of tax abatements and exemptions (such as J-51, 421-a, SCHE, and similar programs);
  • DOB violations and penalties from the Department of Buildings; and
  • Other city agency fines and adverse determinations.

When an agency gets it wrong — or won't budge through the normal appeal channels — we can challenge the decision in court through an Article 78 proceeding, the legal mechanism for asking a judge to review and overturn an unlawful, arbitrary, or unfair government determination.

How an engagement works

A straight read, then a plan

  • Assess

    We learn the situation and give you an honest read on where you stand and what's at stake.

  • Recommend

    A clear recommendation tied to outcome, cost, and risk — the decision, then the reasoning.

  • Resolve

    We push toward the best resolution — in or out of court — with senior attention throughout.
